At this event, CGS Associate Research Professor Christoph Bertram, Postdoctoral Research Associate Mel George, Research Assistant Gary Guo, and Postdoctoral Research Associate Xiangwen Fu will present on GCAM modeling's contributions to various climate scenarios projects.
Abstract: CGS, together with collaborators from the Joint Global Change Research Institute (JGCRI), leads the GCAM modeling work for the ScenarioMIP and Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) scenarios projects, as well as various European Union (EU)-funded research projects. This talk will give a short overview of all these projects involving global GCAM modeling and then focus on this year's work in the NGFS and scenarioMIP projects. In the NGFS project, this year we do not produce a scenario update, but rather prepare narrative reports explaining the results of last year's scenarios in greater detail, and produce a report on energy investments, with a focus on adding so far not represented investments into electrified transport. In the scenarioMIP project, which involves more GCAM partner institutions, we are coordinating the scenario modeling with GCAM and are exploring ways to adjust income elasticity assumptions to arrive at more plausible patterns of regional transport demand.
